System Implementation

System implementation is a OPTIONAL service and is often specified in a separate scope of work for the original assessment. If SDS is engaged to provide system implementation it will include working with the client’s purchasing organization and providing:

• System specifications
• Bid management
• Project management

System Specifications

An effective design is of little value if it is not implemented properly. The most important step in implementation is the system specification. SDS will design a “performance specification” specification to meet the needs established in the system design.

A performance specification is one where the intended outcome is explained it detail but references to equipment by brand and model is deliberately omitted. In cases where there is an existing system or there is a vendor favored by the client brand and model is used but unless those conditions exists the specification is performance only. This approach provides the widest range of bidders and the most choices for the client.

An SDS specification can include:

• A description of each device and the performance expected
• Design concepts in AutoCAD drawings
• Detailed designs for specific installations such as card readers and cameras
• An estimated or expected budget (for management and not part of the bid document)

Bid Management

After developing the bid documents SDS can identify potential bidders, solicit bids and manage the bid process then evaluate offers to identify the most responsive bidder (not just the lowest price). Bids are compared based on 3 variables:

1. Price
2. Product, how closely the system offered matches the performance specification
3. Quality of service, the vendor’s reputation, capability and warranty

Project Management

SDS will ensure that the bid accepted for your security solution is implemented in a professional manner and meets the design specifications described in your specifications. SDS will test the performance of your new system and help your staff with system set up, planning and employee acceptance.
